Bucky was originally portrayed as Captain America's teenage sidekick, serving as his partner in the fight against the Axis Powers during World War II. However, in a tragic turn of events, Bucky was presumed dead after a mission gone wrong, leading to Captain America being frozen in ice and preserved for several decades.
